We're on a mission

Clothed is a company on a mission; to encourage people through fresh and sustainable Adaptive Clothing — clothing designed and created with accessibility in mind.

In our community a variety of people, for a variety of reasons, have a need for adaptive clothing — maybe because it makes life a little easier, and maybe because it's just a fundamental necessity. Currently this group of people — both the young and the not-so-young — are (desperately) overlooked by the fashion industry. Clothed is here to change that.

So what's the problem?

The clothing a person wears has the ability to alter how they interact with the world and has an effect on daily life. It can influence anything from practical things like helping regulate body temperature and restoring dignity, to emotional things like sparking joy and giving confidence.

But the community that benefits from, and needs adaptable clothing often has little choice in what they wear — and sometimes none at all. So what happens when you want to express a little of yourself in your clothing? Either you don’t,
or you have to suffer for it. And we don’t believe dressing how you want should be a painful chore.

What's the plan?

We have four aims at the heart of what we are doing.

Make life easier

If you are someone that needs adaptable clothing, then you are someone who already has to go through their day with more challenges than most. If we can, we want to stop clothing being one extra
daily hurdle.

Give back personality

So you need adaptable clothing…but you still have your style right? We understand that what you wear directly impacts how you feel. And we don’t believe adaptable clothing should compromise that. We want to offer the adaptable clothing community more choice and functionality back into their wardrobes.

Start a competition

Because to us competition means market growth. It means other companies out there have seen what we’re doing, and therefore they have seen you too. Fundamentally we want to see more adaptable clothing on the market. Full stop.

Take it slow

Sustainability and fast-fashion are a hot-topics these days, and so they should be. We genuinely care about the impact our actions have on the planet and hate all the fabric waste we see going to landfill. You take your time to choose your adaptable clothes wisely, and so we will make them to last. And whenever there is a sustainable option along the way…you can be sure we’ll be taking it!

Good for community

We don't just want the clothing to be good for you — we want the company to do good for our community too. Fabric waste disturbs us greatly, so we will be championing slow fashion, designed and made here in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Clothed wants to be a force for good in our community. From our start we want to reach out and as our business grows we would like to do this more. Once we are in a position to do so we will be doing something like donating a portion of our stock or profits to a local charity. We will let you know more details once they are finalised and as our company expands our aim is to expand our positive influence in giving back. This, you could say, is woven
into the fabric of our company and is the basis of our Clothed Community.
